Charlies Story
I have ADHD, when my parents first found the swim academy, I was a bit skeptical since I do not like doing new things because I am a bit scared of the unknown. The second I saw Britney it felt completely natural like I had known her for years. She was so welcoming and fitted herself and how she acted to make it so that I felt comfortable in her presence and was not overwhelmed by everything I had not done before. When I first started lessons with Britney I was struggling with anxiety and was struggling to attend my school lessons and do some clubs outside of school but since doing lessons with Britney she hasn’t only taught me how to swim and perfect my techniques but she has made me feel like I have a safe place to express my emotions and I then started getting less anxious around school and outside of school.
When I first started at the age of eleven, I was in a lesson on my own but eventually Britney helped me so much that I was completely happy to be in a group with other kids I had never met. When I got into this group, I was the oldest at the age of 13. I realised that I enjoyed teaching, and I began to help the other kids in my group with perfecting their technique just like Britney originally did with me. The lessons slowly turned from me learning to perfect my swimming to then learning how to save lives and teach lessons of my own. A couple of weeks before my 14th birthday I did a day of work shadowing (through school) with Britney, and we spent the day with her regular lessons, but I got to help. Then, a few weeks before my 15th birthday, I did a whole week (again through school) with Britney, and she helped so much with teaching me my life saving skills and how to plan lessons for other kids. I am now 16, still doing lessons at the swim academy and I am about to do my qualifications to become a swimming teacher myself and work for Britney.
In conclusion she has helped me so much in the last 5 years, not just in learning to swim but learning to teach. She also became a great friend who helped me a lot with feeling comfortable with life in general and I thank her so much for that and do not know what I would have done without her.
Thank you very much Britney.

Hi Guys!
Joining the swim academy has been one of the best decisions I've made—not just for improving my swimming skills, but also for my personal growth. I have suspected ADHD and from the beginning, I felt supported and encouraged to step outside my comfort zone.
A big part of that is thanks to Britney. She created such a comfortable and welcoming environment that made me feel at ease in the water, even when I felt nervous. Her patience, guidance, and encouragement gave me the confidence to push myself further than I thought I could.
I am now very excited to get the opportunity to help out with CIC, I'm trying out new skills and learning lots!
I'm truly grateful for everything Britney has done for me. She didn't just help me become a better swimmer—she helped me believe in myself, and for that, I thank her from the bottom of my heart.
Love Kaila xoxo

My sister and I both have autism and Myotonic dystrophy. It is an inherited genetic condition that causes progressive muscle weakness and wasting. It impacts other parts of our body, including
the heart, lungs, eyes, and brain. The doctors think we can’t or shouldn’t do much but we show them!
Before we applied for the swim academy, we couldn't swim a single length in a pool let alone the sea but with Britney's help, we are now great at swimming, still there's more work to be done.
Jake & Jasmines Story
We have worked really hard on our stamina and holding our breath, our doctors do not believe we can hold it for so long, we have to show them proof with videos. Swimming has helped with building muscles so I can now pull myself out of
the pool without using the steps. We can tread water now for a really really really long time!
My sister Jasmine can now do handstands and swim under water to get the toys from the deep end. Jasmine loves Taylor Swift so we have fun discos and dance in the pool. We have made up our own swimming strokes, Butter stroke and underwater backstroke!
Our time at the pool is so much more than swimming lessons, we can talk to Britney and Charlie about everything and anything, things we don’t feel comfortable telling others, they both always listen and accept us for who we are and help us through tough times.
Before our lessons we were very anxious about lots of things in life we were shy and didn’t really come out of our shells. Now we are actively joining in with lessons, signing up for school talent shows and we are both school and college councilors/helpers!
The new facilities will help everyone with swimming better than ever before including having a fun time doing it, we have never had a boring lesson in 6 years and we are still going strong!

I love Britney's swimming classes! They are amazing because every time I go, I have so much fun. I like how she teaches me swimming and makes it exciting. I feel happy and proud when I'm in her class!

I have fun in the lessons and playing with the girls in my class. I get excited when I can do something I haven't done before because I was too scared!

I swam the length of the pool so many times. I didn't think I could do that.
Swimming so much fun!
