  • Immediate action on concerns.

  • Sensory-considerate, accessible delivery.

  • No discrimination; respectful communication.

  •

5) Concerns: See–Say–Secure–Send

  1. See: Notice risk/abuse (physical, emotional, sexual, neglect, financial, discriminatory).

  2. Say: Tell the DSL immediately (don’t investigate).

  3. Secure: Write a factual record (date/time, what was said/seen, who was present).

  4. Send: DSL assesses and, if needed, contacts Police (999 if immediate risk) or Children’s/Adults’ Social Care; may seek NSPCC advice (0808 800 5000).
Records are confidential, stored securely, and shared only when necessary to protect someone.

6) Safe Recruitment & Training

  • References taken; role-appropriate induction.

  • Safeguarding + inclusion refresher every 2 years (minimum).

7) Inclusion & Accessibility

  • Sensory-aware planning (lighting, sound, smells, transitions).

  • Visual supports, plain-language instructions, flexible pacing/opt-outs.

  • Quiet spaces and regulation breaks.

  • Individual adjustments agreed with families; feedback welcomed.

8) Online Safety & Images

  • Parental/guardian consent for images of children; opt-out honoured.

  • No names next to images; secure storage; limited access.
